Model 1895 Preußen Jäger Tschako

Model 1895 Preußen Jäger Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Tschako. Like the M1888, the M1895 Tschako has two vent holes on each side of the helmet to aid in ventilation.

A view of the Model 1895 Preußen Jäger Mannschaften Tschako Wappen (front plate). The Wappen is much smaller than a line Infantry plate, measuring only 94 mm from the tail feathers to the crown. Note that on post-1892 Jäger Tschako Wappen, the feathers on the eagle's chest meet in the middle. On Ulanen plates, and on the standard Preußen Line plate, the chest feathers overlap. The obverse of the plate is identical in size to the M1892, but the plate is secured by soldered loops introduced in 1895 that pass through corresponding holes on the front of the helmet.

The liner of a Preußen Jäger issued Mannschaften Tschako is essentially identical to a Pickelhaube.

This Tschako is equipped with a parade plume of black horsehair that sits behind the White/Black Preußen Feldzeichen.
