Eigentumsstück Waffenrock
Sachsen (Saxon) Landwehr-Infanterie-Brigade Nr. 63

Eigentumsstück (private purchase) Model 1895 NCO's Waffenrock from Landwehr-Infanterie-Brigade Nr. 63 (Dresden) XII Armee Korps.

The Waffenrock is made from a high quality dunkelblau (dark blue) doeskin wool with Ponceaurot (poppy red) piping on the front opening, bottom, and rear skirt. The top of the collar and Sachsen pattern cuffs are piped in blue.

Unlike the other contingents of the German empire who wore Dunkelblau Waffenrock with no bottom piping Sachsen (Saxony) in typical fashion) did not conform, and wore Waffenrocks with red piping on the bottom hem. Another unique characteristic of Sachsen Infantry Waffenrock are the Sachsen cuffs with two vertical buttons.

Sachsen (Saxon) Waffenrock had a unique pattern of rear skirt with only four buttons and straight piping.

As is typical for Sachsen shoulder straps the strap is piped in red with press-cut numbers that have been hand sewn to the strap.

A matching Sachsen (Saxon) Bezirks-Kommando Nr. 69 Waffenrock and Pickelhaube. In this configuration the man would have been a Sachsen Reserve Infantry Fähnrich (Officer-Candidate) with the rank of Sergeant. To see the Pickelhaube click Here.
