Model 1895 Baden Feldartillerie (Field Artillery) issued Pickelhaube

Model 1895 Baden Feldartillerie (Field Artillery) issued Pickelhaube. This helmet was worn by the following Feldartillerie Regiments:
  • Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Großherzog (1. Badisches) Nr.14 (Karlsruhe) XIV Armee Korps

  • 2. Badisches Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Nr.30 (Rastatt) XIV Armee Korps

  • 3. Badisches Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Nr.50 (Karlsruhe) XIV Armee Korps

  • 4. Badisches Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Nr.66 (Lahr) XV Armee Korps

  • 5. Badisches Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Nr.76 (Freiburg i.Br.) XIV Armee Korps
A view of the Baden M1895 Line Wappen (front plate) for Mannschaften (Other Ranks).
A rear view of the helmet. Note that the rear spine does not incorporate the M1895 rear sliding air vent, correct for all issued artillery helmets prior to the First War.

Of all the Badisches Feld-Artillerie-Regt., only FAR14 wore a parade bush, so the Kugel (ball top) on this example is not removable.
A side profile showing the Feldartillerie characteristics, such as a plain rear spine and rounded M91 chinscales which were adopted by Feldartillerie in 1894. Note also the brass Baden Kokarde.
The liner is the standard Pickelhaube heavy leather pattern and remains in very good condition.
On the rear visor is a very faint "Res FAR 55 II Bat" written in pencil.
Reserve Feldartillerie-Regt. Nr. 55 was part of the 75th Reserve Division primarily raised in the XIV Corps area (Grand Duchy of Baden) and the XI Corps area (Hesse-Kassel or Hesse-Cassel, Waldeck and the Thuringian states).

Res FAR 55 was raised from 3. Badisches Feldartillerie-Regt. Nr.50 (Karlsruhe) XIV Armee Korps which explains why the Pickelhaube carries a Line Baden Wappen and not a Reserve Wappen with a Landwehr cross.

Shown here is a Model 1915 shoulder strap from Reserve Feldartillerie-Regt. Nr. 55.
