Rings
The funnel rings were now added utilizing a stiff nickel wire. These were rather simple to put on, but very difficult to cut and join them together where they met on the one side. |

Why rings?
Curious? These rings were used by the crew to stand on when they painted the funnels. This photo is of SMS Deutschland taken before 1909 when all the funnels were the same.

I decided to not paint the funnels until I build and paint the superstructure. So into storage they go until the next step of the project is completed. This completes the making of the funnels. Are you ready to see the finished (but unpainted) product? | | |
