A view of the Sachsen Wappen (front plate) with the distinctive star-burst with a center shield. This Wappen is made from Tombak with a nickel-silver center which is typical for Sachsen.
To accommodate a Haarbusch, the Kugel (ball top) is removable.

Note that the rear spine does not incorporate the M1895 rear sliding air vent, correct for all issued artillery helmets prior to the First War.
The helmet liner is the standard Pickelhaube heavy leather pattern and in good condition.
On the rear visor are issue stamps, in ink; "12 A" for Kgl. Sächs. 1. Feld-Artillerie-Regt. Nr.12 (Dresden/Königsbrück) XII Armee Korps with an issue date of 1904, as well as an impressed: "BAXII02" for the clothing depot of the XII Armee Korps. The "02" could be the arrival date, or the sub-depot of the clothing depot.
The name of the helmet maker "Actien Ges Thies" is stamped on the inside of the shell.
