Model 1915 Preußen Infantry
Officer's Schirmmütze

Model 1915 Preußen Infantry officer's Schirmmütze. In 1915 visor caps with the olive green visor were introduced for use with the Kriegs und Friedens-Uniformen (War and Peacetime uniform). The cap is made from a light grey wool which almost appears to have a slight purple tinge to it. This may have been a peculiarity of a particular manufacture, as all caps with this unusual color of fabric have similar manufacturing characteristics. This cap displays and interesting feature found on war-time caps, of having a lower quality cloth between the bottom piping or band. In this example, the cloth is a light brown color.

The cap is lined with a cream colored artificial silk with a light-brown Erstz leather sweat band. The original owner's name has been written on the lining in pencil.
