Do it Again....
This photograph shows how much extra material I would have to add. To accomplish this, like the bow I cut out a square area and glued in more sections of laminated hardwood, and re-carved the bow.

Using New templates
For carving, I used the contour gauge and templates that I made from the SMS Deutschland shipyard drawings.

A Better Fit
Here is the new stern after rough carving. You can see it now fits the template. The open area on the top of the "Admiral's walk" will be constructed after the hull is finished, but prior to painting. Note that I have added the centre propeller shaft and the "fin" that connects it to the hull. The shaft housing is made of 9 mm brass tubing.
