Regenhaubengestelle (Rain cover supports)
On each of the four entrances on the boat deck that led down into the Aufbau (superstructure) there was a Regenhaubengestelle (Rain cover support) over the steps. I was expecting an armoured hatch like what is seen on the capital ships over these hatches, however, looking at photos of Deutschland, it seems there was not an armoured hatch over the steps, so that is one less thing I had to make.

Soldering
I spent hours (like four hours!) trying to solder a single Regenhaubengestelle free-hand from .020 brass wire and failed horribly. There was much screaming and yelling in the work shop.....

I finally accepted that the only way to do it, was to carve a wood form and solder the brass wire directly on the form. This worked very well and all four of the Regenhaubengestelle were identical. I should have done this right from the start and saved myself the agony.

Entrance
For the actual hatch down below decks, I made a small box out of styrene plastic the correct depth for the ladder and gave it an edge so it would slip into the hole on the deck and sit flush.
