IT LIVES!! What a monster I ended up with; I soldered the structure using .020" brass rod, which is too large for scale, but it would not be visible and it was easier to work with to get the basic shape. The soldering was also rather sloppy, but no soldering would be visible under the silk paper, so who cares? However, the silk paper to replicate the canvas sucks down, so I had to solder .007" music wire on top of the basic structure so it would show through and look like a scale frame.

Kommandoturm Canvas To replicate the canvas on this structure, strips of black silk paper were soaked in a white glue/water mix and laid on top. You can see in this photo that the first sections are rolled over the top and bottom edges of the viewing openings. This was then done on the sides of the openings, then the remainder was covered.

Railing Canvas To replicate the canvas along the railings I used silk paper cut into strips long enough to adhere on the bottom and roll over the top. First step, was to run a mix of white glue and water along the bottom edge of the canvas which becomes tacky in seconds. Period photos show that the canvas was attached below the railing, so the paper was laid along the upper outside edge below the railings and allowed to dry.
